ACCRALAW’s Intellectual Property Department (IPD) leads the intellectual property practice in the Philippines.  Our practice covers the complete range of services in all aspects of intellectual property rights (IPRs) protection from the lodging of applications for the registration of patents, trademarks and copyrights to prosecuting counterfeiting, misappropriation piracy, unfair competition and protecting the legitimate holders of patents, trademarks and copyright. Our IPD has been consistently cited worldwide for its excellent track record as being the best in its field as shown by the several awards cited above which the IPD has consistently and annually received through the years.

We represent local and foreign clients who own internationally recognized trademarks, inventions, designs, utility models, literary and artistic works, among others.  Our range of services include:

  • Trademark search to determine the availability of trademarks and service marks for registration
  • Patent search to determine eligibility of inventions, utility models and industrial designs for the issuance of letters patent
  • Filing and prosecution of patent, trademark and copyright applications
  • Preparation and recording of assignments, licensing agreements, franchise agreements and technology transfer agreements
  • Handling of opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL)
  • Assisting law enforcement agencies in conducting enforcement actions (search & seizure operations) against IPR violators
  • Prosecution of infringement and unfair competition suits before the regular courts and administrative agencies
  • Registration of domain names with the Philippine Domain Name Registry
  • Advisory services on intellectual property issues in information technology (IT) and cyberspace matters.
  • Conducting IP audits and due diligence in preparation for the sale and purchase of businesses
  • Advisory services on compliance requirements and management of IPRs during product launching
  • Recordation of IPR with the Bureau of Customs (BOC) to prevent the importation of counterfeit goods and products which infringe trademark and patent rights, as well as pirated copies of works protected by copyrights
  • Registration of business names with the Bureau of Trade Regulation and Consumer Protection (BTRCP)
  • Registration of products and brand names with the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) and the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI)
